Tennis Leagues for The Woodlands Area Players

This is a note from The Club:

We have our first ladies team in the North Country league Championship division. Dana Flynn will be our club representative for the North Country league.

Each club has a representative. The other ladies leagues we will get involved in are : North Country Women’s Tennis League / Northwest Women’s Tennis League/Texas Jackrabbitt League and Houston Ladies Tennis Association HLTA.

The men will compete in North Suburban Men’s League and both men’s/ladies and mixed doubles will compete in seasonal USTA Leagues.

These teams are set up by the members themselves. The club receives no income. The players pay their minimal league fees themselves and just represent the club. We will not guarantee members a spot on a team!! This is a sticky situation as some really feel they need to play higher level and then demand to play on the higher team and some are just not invited by the others because of personality conflicts and so forth. Now of course we will try our best to find a place or recommend a member to someone but cannot get involved in team selections at all.

We will pick more and more teams up as the membership grows. I eventually anticipate : 6-8 North country teams in various levels playing Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Jackrabbit teams playing Friday only and 3-4 HLTA teams on Mondays only.

Now we will also have the opportunity to set up our own “in house ” morning leagues for beginners. But once they get comfortable and better they will begin to play these leagues.

In addition to those “outside leagues ” we will also have our own ” in house leagues ” that I will set up for members only . A popular one being a mixed gender Wednesday evening ladder doubles league. These will require minimal fees to cover expenses in the $ 15 -20 range for 8 – 10 weeks.
